Besides being search engine shorthand for lazy people like me, the device is also designed for controlling different elements in your life including Spotify, Philips Hue, Hive, and Uber Eats. Lastly, the voice recognition is outstanding as the device was able to recognize me even when I was sitting in the next room.

Due to the machine’s compact dimensions, I would say that Echo Dot’s built-in speaker is reasonable for a small device. Well, the speaker is loud enough to cater a quick chat with the voice assistant and it is smooth and clear enough that you can hear it.

But as said earlier, I would not use the machine to play music if not connected to an external speaker.

As compared to the original Echo Dot, the 2nd Gen Echo Dot is simply a better device. The Dot does everything that the original device does, but it comes at half the price of the original and offers great versatility. I would recommend Echo Dot to those who are looking after personal voice assistant to take control of their home. However, even if you are just curious about the future of home automation, Echo Dot is a no-brainer.

Echo Dot is the least expensive way towards making your home smart. From ordering products online to calling a cab or ordering pizza, it does everything. After using Echo Dot for a few days, and It already made things better for me. Asking for small things like “Alexa, Wake me up at 7 AM” or “Alexa, Bedroom lights”, “Alexa, How is the weather today”.
