Paperwhite is all about reading, the display acts easy on eyes and the 6-inch screen is backlit allowing you to read during nights. The texts seem to look crisper and it’s like you are reading right out of the paper.

The software is the same in all the Kindles except for few upgradations. The latest Paperwhite edition boasts Amazon’s brand-new Bookerly font that ultimately improves the character spacing with ligatures, justification, and hyphenation. With the pressure-sensitive bezels, you never have to move your fingers swiping the screen as you simply have to squeeze the edge to turn the page. This functionality is more convenient than tapping the screen or swiping it with your fingers. In my case, the only flaw I found on these PagePress controls is that it was difficult for me to locate these controls in the dark.

 #2. Voyage- Battery Life

Battery life has always remained the strength of Kindles, although, with the introduction of the backlit feature, it has been reduced. The Voyage can last up to six weeks after initially charged to 100% given that you use it for 30 minutes of reading per day with the backlit set to 10 and wireless turned off (it is what Amazon has advertised). In my personal experience, I found four weeks to be the most pragmatic figure for regular readers.

#3. Voyage- Display

Voyage’s outstanding display is what makes people spend this much on a Kindle. Similar to Paperwhite, Voyage has a 6-inch backlit display with 300ppi but Amazon has improved it in a couple of important ways. One, the backlight automatically adjusts to decide the right level for the ambient light; two, it has more pixels making it sharper. Apart from these two qualities, the anti-glare nature of the e-ink screen makes reading on Voyage more pleasurable.

The software is the same as you will be locked into Amazon’s ecosystem. It is excellent but hasn’t changed much. Moreover, there are no headphone jacks either so audio books are out of the play.

Kindle Oasis is a luxury product. While struggling to up its offerings next to other Kindles in terms of functionality, it at least looks gorgeous even when it lacks in some areas.

This is the most beautiful-looking Kindle ever produced. Its screen sits to one side, next to the dual PagePress controls. Oasis is somewhat curvy beneath the display, thinning out to a very lean point. This allows you to clutch onto something and it is also where the internals and the battery reside. The thick and thin bezel combination makes Oasis uncomfortable to hold unless you have one of the prescribed cases. Other design tweaks include an aluminum rear body instead of plastic and there are no visible pins for charging making the design classier and cleaner. Moreover, Kindle is finally waterproof.

The latest edition of Oasis has included a charging case and I think it was a smart move because, without the charging case, the device would barely last a day. It has a much bigger screen as compared to other Kindle devices. At 7-inch, Oasis is the less-pocketable Kindle but offers a roomier viewing area.
